Sound propagation through elevated, heated jets in cooler cross-flow: An experimental study

چکیده

Sound propagation through hot exhaust plumes with cooler cross-winds is present in many real world systems. One particular example the sound from stacks attached to open cycle gas turbine power stations. The research presented this paper investigates a reduced-scale stack, cross-flow experiments conducted wind tunnel. Experimental measurements of flow and temperature fields provide insight into complex radiation characteristics. Results acoustic show change directivity arising inclusion plume, leading non-axisymmetric concentration downwind stack outlet. In certain conditions, plume can increase observed by up 11 dB when compared scenario an absence heated jet or cross-flow. This describes at various radial distances frequencies, temperatures, free-stream velocity. results emphasise importance taking consideration estimating levels stack.

Modeling Jets in Cross Flow

Various approaches to the modeling of jets in cross flow are reviewed. These are grouped into four broad classes, namely: empirical models, integral models, perturbation models, and numerical models. Empirical models depend largely on the correlation of experimental data and are mostly useful for first-order estimates of global properties such as jet trajectory and velocity and temperature deca...

On the flow interactions of multiple jets in cross-flow

Direct numerical simulations have been performed to study the behaviour of multiple square jets issuing normally into a cross-flow. The jets are arranged side-by-side in spanwise direction in twin jet configuration and with addition third jet downstream along the centre line in tandem jets configuration. The simulations are carried out for the jet-to-jet adjacent edge distances of 1D and 2D in ...

Experimental Study of Parallel Jets Scouring, considering the effect of jets distance on erosion rate

The scouring process at downstream of the hydraulic structures is a complex phenomenon and many parameters affecting its amount. Failure to control this phenomenon causes damages to the dam and its associated hydraulic structures. In this research, the scouring caused by the combination of jets outlet from a gated spillway was investigated experimentally and the combination of jets adjacent to ...

On the flow characteristics of normal and inclined square jets in cross-flow: a numerical study

Numerical simulation has been performed by solving full Navier–Stokes equations governing the three-dimensional unsteady compressible flows. The main goal of the present work is to investigate the flow characteristics of a square jet issuing transversally into a cross-flow at three injection angles of 90°, 60° and 30°, and thus to provide some deeper insights into the physical flow mechanism go...

Designing and Manufacturing the Multiple Jets Simulator and Experimental Investigation of the Multiple Jets in Crossflow

Designing and manufacturing the multiple jets simulator and experimental investigation of the multiple jets in crossflow at low velocity ratios have been studied Together with design and build a low-speed wind tunnel. A specific rake is used to determine the flow field pressure and changes in static pressure measured by pressure taps in the near field of the jets. There are generally three regi...
